Welcoming Rick Coldman as our new secretary

Having joined the TYT board as the new Secretary at this 2023 AGM, let me introduce myself a little. I live with my wife Maggie on a small holding where we have lived completely off-grid for the last 30 years.

My work life has seen me driving buses, selling whole foods, taking part in a workers’ cooperative and as a Baker.

In 2006 we built a Bakery at our smallholding and from 2007 Mair’s Bakehouse sold bread and pasties in various shops and at markets along the west coast of Wales. We finally semi-retired in 2020 having baked well over 250,000 loaves and many many vegetarian pasties in our Wood Fired Oven.

I first became involved with TYT in August 2021 and have helped with advice, bakery training, grain and flour testing and general assistance on work days at the unit in Brawdy. I hope by becoming more closely involved by joining the board I might be able to offer my experience as a Baker and small business owner to help TYT as it reshapes its way forward.
